The letter from the First Education Federal Credit Union at first looks very official. The letter asks you to take a brief survey and in return you'll get $100. The BBB of Southern Colorado says while First Education Federal Credit Union is a legitimate company, the e-mail isn't. "At first, the survey looks like a typical consumer satisfaction survey," says Katie Carrol with the BBB. She tells NEWSCHANNEL 13 four of the five questions seem like survey questions, but its question number 5 that sent up the red flags. "Consumers are asked to provide the name of their credit card, the number and expiration date." Kathy Thayer is just one person in Southern Colorado to get the phishing e-mail. "I usually blow them off and delete them, but for some reason this one bothered me," she says.

Credit union burglar caught on tape
A credit union burglar has been caught on tape. Shreveport police want you to take a look. A hooded man with a dark heavy coat broke into the Atlas Federal Credit Union on Midway in the early morning hours of February 5th. Police believe he's a young black man of medium height and build. He was carrying some kind of tool, which is believed to have been used to break into the business. If you know who that might be, call Crimestoppers at 673-7373. Norman bank employee aids in robbery suspect's arrest
FBI agents arrested a Fort Worth, Texas, man Monday for the March 2 robbery of an Ardmore credit union. The FBI investigation was aided by the actions of a Norman bank employee, who jotted down the man's Texas tag when the man appeared to be "casing" one of two Norman banks earlier the day of the robbery.Robert David Mielnicki Jr., 24, was taken into custody without incident Monday afternoon by FBI agents in Fort Worth, officials said.FBI officials allege Mielnicki robbed the MTC Federal Credit Union in Ardmore March 2. Earlier that day, employees at two Norman banks became suspicious of an individual seen acting nervously in the bank lobbies, officials said.The man left after becoming aware bank employees were watching him, officials said. An employee saw the man get into a truck and was able to jot down the tag number.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of Continental Federal Credit Union (Continental FCU) today voted unanimously to reject the most recent proposal from Wings Financial Federal Credit Union (Wings Financial) to merge the two credit unions under Wings Financial's management. The vote was 7-0 against the proposal. After careful consideration, the board of Continental FCU, a credit union of more than 25,000 members who primarily are employees of Continental Airlines and US Airways, rejected the Wings Financial takeover because "it is not in the best interests of our members," and "clearly does not bring any compelling value to our membership," said Allan Cooper, chairman of the Continental FCU board.
